World Cup 2022: Qatar’s emir says they faced unprecedented ‘slander campaign’ since becoming hosts

Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani said that since becoming the host country for the 2022 World Cup, Qatar has faced an unprecedented level of criticism that no other host country faced, with some of it amounting to slander and causing people to question the real motives behind it.

After Qatar won its bid to become the hosts of the World Cup, many criticised the country over LGBTQ+ and migrant workers’ rights, and other issues.
